Draw three kanji. Run their power.

Kanji Creature Cards (KANJI RUN) is a thirty-second runner. You draw three Japanese characters before each run, and each one takes over ten seconds of the course. A run takes about forty seconds, start to finish.

You do not need to read Japanese. Every kanji shows its English name when it takes over, and every spirit is explained in English. The app is in English only.

What a run is

1. Draw three kanji

風 WIND carries you faster. 月 MOON turns the road to night and doubles your score. 山 MOUNTAIN raises rocks to jump over. 夜 NIGHT empties the road. The three you draw decide how the run plays, ten seconds at a time.

2. Run for thirty seconds

Tap the course to jump. Dodging rocks fills the Spirit Gauge; when it is full you can fire your runner's special move. It is yours to spend once per run, whenever you choose — the game never fires it for you.

3. Find the spirits

Mochi runs with you from the start: a steady jumper with MOCHI BOUNCE. Finish a run that used both 月 and 夜, and Tsukiyo appears — faster on the ground, weaker in the air, with MOONLIGHT DASH. Each spirit changes how the same course feels.

Charms

A Charm is one optional item you can carry into a run. 守 GUARD ignores your first crash, with no slowdown. 疾 RUSH starts the Spirit Gauge half full, so the special move is ready in about twelve seconds instead of about twenty-four.

Each Charm is free for three runs. After that it locks, and you can unlock it permanently with a single one-time purchase if you want it. Nothing has to be bought. With the Charm set to NONE, every kanji, both spirits, both special moves and every run are yours for free. There are no subscriptions and nothing is consumed by playing.

Your data

There are no accounts, no sign-in, no ads and no tracking. Your best score, the spirits you have met and your choices stay on your device, and the app has no server of its own to send them to. The only outside service it talks to is the App Store, on iOS, to show the price of a Charm and to confirm a purchase — and that channel never tells us your name, your email or your payment details.

Price

The app is free. The only things for sale are the two Charm unlocks above, one time each, and you can finish every run without them.

Where you can get it

Coming to the App Store for iPhone. The app is distributed in 145 countries and regions; it is not available in the member states of the European Union, in Russia, in Belarus, or in mainland China. There is no Android version yet.
